Terry Wilkey Inducted into Hall of Fame

  Terry Wilkey CAI, AARE, was inducted into the Illinois Auctioneer Hall of Fame at the annual conference of the Illinois State Auctioneers Association (ISAA) Nov. 1-2, 2009 in Springfield.  Wilkey has been auctioneering in and around Central Illinois for the past 35 years.  A resident of El Paso, IL, he has sold over 15,000 acres of farmland at auction, residential and commercial real estate, antiques, farm machinery and toys, collectibles and household goods.

    With great dedication, Wilkey has served ISAA for many years, including chairman and director of District Four, on the Board of Directors and many committees before ascending the chairs.  He served as ISAA president in 1995-96 and most recently on the ISAA Board as District Four Governor.  He was chosen Illinois' top bid caller in 2004 and went on to place in the Top 15 at the International Auctioneer Contest in 2005 in Pittsburgh, PA.  Wilkey received his AARE ( Accredited Auctioneer of Real Estate) in 2005 and his CAI (Certified Auctioneer Institute) in 2008.  He also attended the Professional Ringman Institute in Springfield, Missouri in 2007.

    A member of Illinois State Auctioneers Association (ISAA) and National Auctioneers Association (NAA), he wrote the Farmland at Auction continuing education course for the Illinois Auction Institute which he instructs as well as the Ethics course, which is a mandatory course for auction license renewal.
 
    Terry and his wife DeLois own and operate the Dairy Queen in El Paso.  They have three daughters, Molly, Hayley Tibbs (Sean, who is serving in Afghanistan with the U.S. Marine Corps), and Leslie (fiance Ty Gimbel); and one granddaughter Teagan Tibbs.  Terry attends Eastview Christian Church in Normal, IL.  Throughout his career, Terry has volunteered his time for benefit auctions in and around El Paso and conducts the annual benefit auction at The Ranch, a boys home in Flanagan, IL.  Every September, he is the voice of the El Paso Corn Festival Parade.
