Jon Bloomberg of Orion was elected president of the Illinois State Auctioneers Association at their annual conference and show in Springfield. ISAA is divided into 10 districts and Jon represented the northwest District 3 consisting of nine counties for a period of three years prior to serving one-year terms as vice president and president-elect of the Board of Governors.
He is a 1986 graduate of Missouri Auction School and has been involved in the auction business for 28 years, an Auctioneer for 22 years. For many years Jon was affiliated with Stenzel Auction Service owned by his uncle Al Stenzel, before establishing his own business, Bloomberg Auction Team, specializing in real estate and benefit auctions. Jon and fellow ISAA members Heath Spracklen and Jim Hannagan, all clad in tuxedos with a band playing, recently sold 200 Holland Home houses at a ballroom auction. Virtual tours of the properties, some furnished, had been available on line prior to the auction and 300 on-site bidders viewed them on a rear projection large screen. “Jon, Heath and Jim helped add a ‘touch of class’ to our event,” said S. Holland. “They are true professionals and helped the auction go off without a hitch.”
Jon consistently finishes in the Top Six at the Illinois State Champion Auctioneer Contest. He is a member of the National Auctioneers Association. As president-elect, he attended the 2007 Leadership Forum in Kansas City. He is also affiliated with Orion Lions Club as a member and past president, Orion Education Foundation as president, and the Orion Fireworks Festival as cochair.
He and his wife Karen have two children, daughter Allison and son Carson. They attend St. Paul Lutheran Church in Orion. His hobbies include coaching youth sports, hunting and fishing.
Congratulations, Jon. We are looking for good things to happen this year.
